The Village of Harrison Hot Springs is developing a Master Plan for a portion of its “civic lands.” Civic lands are owned by the Village of Harrison Hot Springs for community uses, like municipal services; and, cultural and recreational activities. With a focus on the site of the current Village offices, Sasquatch Museum and Public Works Yard, the Master Plan vision will inform future decision-making and improvements to this site.
The Village Lands Master Plan process includes technical analysis and public engagement.
Public Engagement
Thank you to all who came out to the Community Open House on Oct 24th for the first round of community engagement! Residents engaged with Village Lands Master Plan consultants to ask questions and share their thoughts. This knowledge serves as the foundation to begin visioning for the site.
Join us and drop by anytime between 4:30pm - 6:30pm on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the Village Office for Phase 2 Community Engagement!
What Site is the Focus of the Village Lands Master Plan Process?
The focus site is home to the Village Offices, works yard and the Harrison Visitor Centre and Sasquatch Museum. It is accessible by car or bus, is adjacent to the school and Fire Hall, and is within walking distance of the waterfront.
Background Information In Council's 2023 Strategic Plan, a priority was set for Organizational Development- To provide for the needs of a growing community. One of the action items for this priority was to conduct a Village facilities review and set priorities for a Village office and other facilities. Since this Strategic Plan was created, there has been discussion at Council regarding potential inclusions in a new facility to include housing and space for community use. The Village Lands Master Plan process will help to guide ideas and direction for future planning.

Background mapping
Public Open House (Oct 24)
The purpose of the first engagement session was to gather feedback from the public to establishing a shared understanding of site strengths, opportunities, and challenges.

Phase 2 – Exploring Options, November – December, 2024
Site Analysis
Program Options
The consultant team collects precedent examples that can be used for spatial testing of different program ideas.
Design Charrette and Public Pin-Up
The consultant team will undertake a three-day intensive design charette to test ideas and options based on what was heard at the public open house. The public will be welcome back to share their feedback on the draft ideas at a ‘public pin-up’.
What does a design charette pin-up look like?
The drawings that are produced over the intensive three day design period will be ‘pinned up’ and the public will be welcomed to see the draft material, discuss the ideas with staff and the consultant team, and share feedback through the use of sticky-notes.
Phase 3
this is an upcoming stage for Village Lands Master Plan
Phase 3 – Summary Report, January – February, 2025
Village Lands Master Plan Report
The Master Plan Vision will be updated to reflect the feedback that was received during the public pin up.
