The Village has explored options for an off-leash dog park since 2015, as first recommended in the Village’s Age-Friendly Action Plan (2015), and most recently in the Parks and Trails Master Plan (2025). A temporary off-leash dog park was available in Fall 2025 and will be returning in late June 2026 for another seasonal trial period.
The temporary off-leash dog park will be available for users from late June 2026 until late September 2026.
The purpose of the trial is to:
- Minimize permanent infrastructure costs while gauging community use
- Collect data and feedback on Spring Park user experience
- Inform a future Council decision on establishing a permanent location.
The dog park will be located between the two sports courts at Spring Park (300 Bear Avenue). The temporary off-leash dog park is a shared space for large and small dogs.
