The Village of Harrison Hot Springs is developing a new accessible canoe and kayak launch to enhance waterfront access for residents and visitors of all abilities. This project supports the Village’s commitment to accessible recreation, inclusive public spaces, and enhanced waterfront experiences - making it easier for everyone to get out on the water.

Project Overview

This new launch is designed to provide a safe, inclusive, and easy-to-use paddling access point on the lake. The design supports a smooth transition to the water and accommodates a wide range of users, including those with mobility challenges.

  • Project Awarded To: New Wave Docks Ltd.
  • Project Budget: $100,000
  • Funding Source: Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI)

The project uses a design-build approach with prefabrication, helping to reduce on-site disruption while maintaining high standards for safety, durability, and accessibility.

Key Features:

  • Accessible for users of all abilities
  • Stable, easy-entry launch system
  • Transfer bench and grab bars for added support
  • Non-slip, high-visibility surfaces
  • Durable, low-maintenance materials built for B.C. conditions
  • Designed for multiple users at once

Location

The launch will be installed in the northernmost bay on the east side of the lagoon, offering a sheltered and convenient entry point. Parking and offloading options are currently being reviewed to enhance the paddling experience.

Environmental Stewardship

Installation will be overseen by a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) to ensure all work is completed responsibly and in compliance with environmental regulations.
