Every year, the Village of Harrison Hot Springs prepares an annual budget. Not only does the budget determine the amount of property taxes that need to be raised, it also outlines what the money will fund, while making sure the Village can deliver services efficiently.

The budget is guided by Council priorities and is part of a five-year financial plan, which:

  • Shows what services and projects the Village plans to provide over the next five years.
  • Outlines how the Village will pay for these services, including operating costs, infrastructure projects, and reserves.
  • Helps Council make informed decisions about spending, balancing costs with what residents need and want.

Why the Village does this every year:

  • To ensure services like roads, parks, fire protection, and utilities are funded.
  • To plan for infrastructure maintenance and replacement before problems arise.
  • To provide transparency and accountability so residents can see how tax dollars are being used.
  • To give residents the opportunity to provide input and help set priorities through surveys and consultations.

The annual budget process keeps the Village financially healthy, services reliable, and the community engaged in decision-making.

Municipal taxes help fund the services that make our community run smoothly - from safe roads, to fire protection, parks, and recreation. Each year, the Village sets a budget for these services, and your property taxes help cover the costs. This page explains how taxes work, how your property assessment affects your tax bill, and how you can have your say during the budget process.

Each year, Village Council approves a budget that balances maintaining essential services, addressing aging infrastructure, and keeping costs as affordable as possible for residents. Property assessments and tax rates are then used to fairly share those costs among property owners.

As the Village prepares the 2026 budget, Council’s goal is to balance affordability with maintaining the services and infrastructure residents rely on - today and into the future.
